Pet Ultrasound in Honor, MI

Ultrasound
Even though there are numerous ways in which humans and animals vary, some developments in human medicine are particularly beneficial to veterinary patients. Diagnostic ultrasound has emerged as a potent tool in veterinary medicine as one of these innovations. One of our objectives as a practice is to provide cutting-edge medicine and diagnostic testing. Thus, we are happy to provide ultrasound services as a way to give our patients better treatment overall.
Ultrasound

Ultrasound waves are used in the diagnostic procedure known as ultrasonography to create an image study. Thus, we can view internal images of the patient’s body during an ultrasonography procedure. Ultrasonography does not involve the use of radiation, unlike some other imaging procedures like x-rays. An image of what is inside your pet’s body is instead created using high-frequency sound (ultrasound) waves. Many common disorders can be identified and assessed with ultrasonography, which is absolutely non-invasive and painless.

Ultrasound waves are produced by an ultrasound machine. A tiny probe attached to the machine is placed delicately against your pet’s skin. The probe emits painless ultrasound waves that are reflected off of the organs and other structures before returning to a sensor inside the ultrasound machine. These reflected “echoes” are collected by the ultrasonic apparatus, which then makes use of them to produce images that may be seen on a screen. Abdominal organs such as the liver, spleen, gallbladder, and kidneys can be clearly seen in ultrasound imaging. It is helpful for determining the health of the fetus and keeping track of pregnancies in breeding animals. It can also be used to diagnose and stage (define the seriousness of) some cancers.
